pax card

A few months back I created a typographic interpretation of 'pax', one of my favourite words. I always had the intention of applying it to a greeting card that could be used for all sorts of occasions. I often want to drop someone a note (a real paper one) and found I never had the right card handy.

Introducing the pax greeting card. Peace out.

Available soon in sets of 6 via my etsy store.

OCAD GRAD SHOW

On Friday I went to the 97th Annual OCAD Graduate Exhibition.

I realized I had not actually set foot in OCAD since I graduated 15 yrs ago. And wow, does it ever look different from the rectangular, concrete box that I walked into every day (sleep deprived and fueled with Jolt cola).

The Design & Advertising work was solid, but what truly amazed me, and inspired me, was both the Drawing & Painting and Material Art work. Here are three of my favourite newly discovered OCAD artists:

"Be as nice as you are forever" by Tonya Corkey // tonyacorkey@hotmail.com

"Apples of Youth" by Ivan Alifan // ivanalifan@gmail.com

"I Love You as Big as the Universe" by Alex Sheriff // alex.sheriff@hotmail.com

DIY wall sculpture

Last week I was on a shopping trip and fell in love with this simple wall sculpture at anthropologie.

Made from water cooler cups and died in monotone hues, this piece of art is a simple DIY on my to-do list.

Confessions

So excited to post the cover a new Young Adult fiction book I designed for Harlequin Teen.

This will be the first in a series of 'Confessions' books, so we wanted to establish a look that could be rolled out over multiple books. The title type treatment was in jeopardy of being pared down to something much more subtle, but once the color palette of the cover was switched to a more sophisticate palette (blue and khaki 'greige' vs. the original hot pink and turquoise) it all came together and worked.

Research for this cover consisted of a lot of time on the CW website...
